Fundraising for Emergency Relief

Did you know that last year, CommunityLIFE SA provided emergency relief to over 1200 people doing it tough across four council areas? You might have seen our posts about our Winter Hamper Drive, but we also provided people with direct food access, grocery and essentials support, and quick access to Financial Counselling services through our partner, Uniting Care Wesley Bowden.

That’s why this year, we’re looking to raise $80,000 to help keep our Emergency Relief program sustainable.

For CommunityLIFE SA, we often think of Emergency Relief as our ‘front door’ service, because it is, literally, what brings people through the front door. But just as you wouldn’t leave a guest standing at your front door, we also want to invite people into deeper community.

Our pantry is a critical resource in our community!

Along with ER, we also provide access to our many other programs to everyone who comes through our doors. We aim not only to meet immediate needs, but also to help people build connections, confidence, and opportunities for the future.

Chatty Cafe and Community Meal create opportunities to get to know someone new; Women Together, The Stitch Up, and Media Hub allow people to explore their hobbies and passions; Adult Community Education lets people start thinking about skill development, further study, or work; and volunteering opportunities allow people to go deep and give back to the community.

Still, very often it’s through our ER that people get to learn about the other options available to them. Emergency Relief might be someone’s first visit to CommunityLIFE SA. Months later, they may be attending a community meal, developing new skills, or volunteering alongside others.

Can you help us hit our fundraising target?

The need for this service is increasing as people face economic, housing, and fuel pressures. Whether through a donation, or by becoming a monthly supporter, you’ll be making a difference in your community to those who need it most. And you may help someone move from crisis to belonging, which is what we all deeply need!
